
Avram Dumitrescu
Avram Dumitrescu was born in 1976 in Jersey, the Channel Islands and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He attended the University of Ulster at Belfast, earning a bachelors degree in Visual Communication and later a Masters in Applied Arts.
While working on his advanced degree, Dumitrescu began illustrating Northern Irish towns for the Ulster Tatler magazine. His paintings were collected by the UTV collection, one of Ireland’s most extensive and distinguished corporate collections.
Dumitrescu came to America in 2005 and he married journalist Megan Wilde. Since moving to Far West Texas he has taken part in a number of solo and group exhibitions. He illustrates for clients such as Gastronomica: The Journal of Food and Culture, the Writer’s Magazine, the Cenizo Journal, and the Desert Candle. His watercolors were recently published in MFK Fisher: Among the Pots and Pans by the University of California Press. He teaches as an adjunct professor at Sul Ross State University and is a Scientific Illustrator for the Center for Big Bend Studies.
